Welcome to the Inland Valley Retriever Club Webpage

President's Message - February 9, 2010

Dear Club members,

We have the best club in the west. You members show up and work and do what the club charter declares, promote the conservation of game through the training of hunting dogs. For Super Singles the weather was so bad even the ducks were settling on the pond, er creek, er river.

We had members that showed up to work even though they did not even have a dog entered in the event. My hat is off to you.

On a more serious note, one thing that kills a club like this is having members that show up and take and do not contribute. Board members were concerned that we would have enough food to feed people at the event. We did, but it shouldn't be a concern. There were positions in the field that had to be staffed. We had to look for volunteers.

This is an organization of friends. What each person has to contribute is different, but it needs to be offered. Bring something to the next training day for the potluck. Don't wait to be asked to help in the field, volunteer. If you have volunteered and need help don't be shy in asking for help.

We have many members that have offered their services and expertise in ways that have benefited the club immensely, websites, raffles, donations of goods and services. We appreciate these and thank those of you that graciously offer your help, but there is still more for us to do.

I would be remiss if I did not take this opportunity to thank Danielle for organizing this event, Rick Kail, Kelly Greenwood and Steve Hardin for judging it and for all those who helped out in the field, and ran the #s board for us. Awful weather, awesome turnout, great times.
